Paizo Vs Chessex Mat

I m looking at these two products on amazon and i know that the chessex mats are fairly good quality have used them before but i see the larger paizo flipmat is about half the price. I m wondering if i should get the bigger one but i m really new to rpgs. Since you mentioned a whiteboard you can probably go to walmart or something and buy a reasonably sized whiteboard mark off a 1 grid with sharpie and. Paizo flipmat i m looking at picking up a playmat for an upcoming starfinder game.

It supports way more markers and is easier to transport. Like i can t tell my players who are playing d d pathfinder which requires a minor amount of imagination that they re on water on my regular chessex tan map or even if i was using one of the generic flip mats. The paizo flip mat is easier though. The chessex megamat and mondomat are bigger and rolls up rather than folding like the paizo mat.

The ship with water on the back sides is the worst. Chessex role playing play mat. It feels good to the touch and pleasing to the eyes. I ve only gmed twice and i m not really sure what s best.

My one complaint is that i use wet erase markers and for some reason the red one is hard to get out of the mat. I got a chessex battlemat from amazon and now that i open it up i realize it s actually a tad smaller than my paizo flip mat.

I use the bigger variant of the chessex mat you linked and it s great. I have about 7 of these flip mats. The battlemat from chessex is the same size as the paizo mat at 1 5x the price. Chessex play mats one of my favorite battlemats.
